Want to get more active? View best answer in original post. Hi coachncruise , nice to see you here. I'd like to know what kind of PC you're using. Are you trying to sync your Fitbit from the Fitbit Connect program because you're having issues with the Fitbit App? I'll do my best to help you out with this.
Are you trying to sync or set up your Fitbit device? Sorry for all this questions but I need as much information as you can provide to get the correct troubleshooting steps. I am trying to sync. My surge stopped syncing in August, but I was able to uninstall the app and reinstall using an older exe file, although I had to do this every couple of days. This worked until Oct 18, and then it stopped, then suddenly synced Oct 23, and then that was it. I tried uninstalling the app and then it wouldn't reinstall.
The windows store gives me the error code 0xF8F. I have checked my date and time which is apparently related to that error code and it is correct. I have done a windows store reset and that didn't work either. I think the store issue is related to a windows 10 automatic update. I have manually downloaded the latest windows 10 upgrades, but the store issue has yet to be resolved.
I have tried using fitbit connect instead, using the PC not windows 10 version, but it hangs and doesn't download either. Old exe. They send me to the windows store because they see I need an upgraded version.
Hi coachncruise , thanks a million for all those steps that you've already tried. I can tell that you've tried all the possible options. You did an excellent job researching throughout the Forums.
Sorry for the delay. About the issues with the Windows store, I think that you might have to check with a computer technician or with Windows support for that; as we are not related to that specific error message.
From our end, what you can try is to download the Fitbit Connect program one more time, but first please delete all other files that you have from Fitbit on your computer. By any chance, do you have a cellphone or tablet to check other possible option? Nice to see that you're digging into the Forums michellerm , let me give you a warm welcome to our Community.
Sorry for the time I took to respond. Thanks for your feedback, we're always trying to update the Fitbit app to have a better way to communicate with your Fitbit device. The wireless dongle is usually used on Macs or Windows 8. If your device didn't come with a dongle and you can't use a phone or tablet instead.
My health insurance provided me with a new fitbit! My first one ever! So exciting, waiting for it to be delivered. Then I discover that the Charge 3 is not compatible with my Win 10 laptop.
It is mobile only. My cell phone does not have the upgraded system that will accept the software. Yes it is an older model cell phone. So I used someone else's cell to get the fitbit set up. Now I have a fancy watch with a heart beat monitor. That is all. No tracking on my devices, no use of other options like alarm, etc.
Cannot even check local weather. No steps tracking. What a waste of a free benefit from my health insurance. Why would you design a new product and not make it compatible with a PC? I am trying to help a friend connect her new Fitbit Charge 3 and must say this is the most disappointing install I have ever experienced.
She is an elder lady and does not have a smart phone so I have tried to connect to her PC. Unfortunately she discovered that there is no support for Windows 7 after she purchased it, so I had to upgrade her computer to Windows So this is where the fun begins. After three days of trying to download, we are still at ground zero. I have even done a fresh install of Windows and still get error Try again, something happened on our End. Why doesn't Fitbit provide the app? I am about to have her return the Fitbit and purchase a Samsung Gear.
To perform it, you can go to fitbit. You can even try restarting your computer or your device. Another way will be to insert the dongle into a different USB port. If all of the above does not work, you can reinstall Fitbit Connect and look for the latest version.
When there is outdated firmware, there will be a likelihood of problems with Fitbit Charge HR. For this, it is important to confirm the version of Charge HR firmware. Follow these steps for the same. Fitbit Connect for Fitbit Blaze can be synced directly with the charging table.
This does not require any dongle. However, you need to note that your operating system must have Windows Also, the Fitbit app must be installed. The Blaze must be locked in the charging cradle and it has to be plugged directly into your computer system. In doing so, there will be no interference problems with Bluetooth. By going through the above steps, you can use Fitbit on your computer. As long as your system and the Fitbit tracker are within a range of 20 feet, you can have up-to-date progress of your day-to-day activity.

- Solved: Where can I download the Fitbit Connect? - Fitbit Community
I have exactly the same problem and unfortunately, it does not work. I tried downloading the older version of Fitbit Connect, and that seems to do nothing either. Any other suggestions? I'd like to have more details of what you're getting when trying to download the Fitbit App from the Microsoft Store. Are you able to see the app downloading? Are you getting any error message? My understanding is that I need FitBit Connect.
Is that a separate app? I've tried everything else that is suggested to fix this problem. And you needed both. The former was just used to just push the data from your device to the Fitbit servers; the latter was used to look at your data and stats.
In order to use Fitbit Connect, you need a Fitbit dongle, and that came with older models of Fitbit. Naturally, you can get one from the Fitbit store.
On newer computers, you can do syncing, look at your stats, and even participate in challenges from the Fitbit App. Though, you'll need that computer to support Bluetooth LE or the Fitbit dongle. If you're on Windows 10, there is literally nothing that Fitbit Connect can do that the Fitbit App cannot. That said, when you run the Fitbit App on your phone, in order to get notifications to work, it keeps a more persistent connection to your Fitbit.
This is what Fitbit calls 'bonding'. Since this is a persistent connection to your Fitbit, it occasionally disrupts the ability for other devices like your computer to sync with your Fitbit. Try disabling Bluetooth on your phone or turning it off entirely to see of you can get your Fitbit syncing.
Hi, and thanks for your excellent explanation. I have an older laptop which is running on Windows 10 but I do not have BlueTooth. I also have the dongle that came with my FitBit. I've tried syncing with the dongle, but nothing seems to happen. Defective dongle, maybe?
Great explanation PureEvil. Thanks for confirming those details zuni When the Wireless Dongle is not working you usually get information about it. But why don't you delete all programs from Fitbit that you might have on your computer, then turn off the firewall and reinstall the Fitbit Connect here. Since you mentioned that you have a Windows 10 computer as soon as the Fitbit Connect finishes the installation of the program you will be prompted to sync your Fitbit.
Please clean the Wireless Dongle with a toothbrush with rubbing alcohol and connect it when you get the notification from the Fitbit Connect program. Let me know if you get any message or error. I can still synch with my phone, but it is not always convenient.
I do not see this as a step forward. By chance did you have your Fitbit linked to your phone? If so, it is common for the phone to hold a connection to your Fitbit such that it can't been seen, or synced, by your PC. Hey rjmatthews62 nice to see you here, welcome aboard! Thanks for jumping in Michael. I'm also happy to see that you were able to fix the syncing issues with your Windows 10 pc.
Our good friend Michael , has a good point there. Hopefully, you won't have same issues again. But if you need help we'll be around. This Solution no longer works. Everytime I try to download the pc version it immediately opens and forces a download of the FitBit App. I do not want the FitBit App. I want FitBit Connect! I have attempted to download the app for the past 4 days. Tried two different Microsoft accounts, turned off Firewalls and Antivirus. Removed Norton from her PC.
I have performed a fresh install of Microsoft Windows 10 OS. I have spent now 4 days attempting to download the app with no success. I understand Mobile devices are the new mini computers, but I find it hard to believe that Fitbit would ignore the customers who do not utilize this technology. Since the software is designed to install on Windows 10 computer, why would FitBit not include the drivers and dll's necessary to connect their newest Fitbit into the software.
The computer is a Dell Inspiron. It does see the Charge 3 when I select the Bluetooth and attempt to add the device, but will never connect. I did run setup of the charge 3 on my cell and it connected.
So, What is Fitbit's official statement regarding connecting a Fitbit Charge 3? Can it be connected to a Windows 10 PC?
If so what is needed to connect? Software and version, hardware, firmware, etc. Can you provide the Microsoft app to the consumer since it is your product?
Thank you for getting back to us and for your comments NewUser and WRandy. I apologize for the delayed response and will be glad to assist you. NewUser , I checked with one of our specialists and he confirmed that Charge 3 set up won't happen with a computer.
WRandy , thank you for sharing the steps you have followed in order to resolve this syncing inconvenience and I appreciate your feedback. Does your computer have integrated low energy 4.
Charge 3 should connect with the Windows 10 App. You can download the App here. Using a new to me computer and keep getting the 'authorization failed' message when trying to sync my Fitbit Charge HR. I worked on my other laptop at home but will not work on this one. Have uninstalled and reinstalled the App, but still get the error. Can log on to the online dashboard with no problem.
I do have a Fitbit usb Bluetooth adapter on the computer, but my struggle was and has been the app from the Micrpsoft store. No matter what i have tried to do, I have been unable to download this app.
As you can see in my efforts, I was willing to go the extra mile to get this to work. I am amazed that Fitbit does not include this in the software package or provide a direct link on an FTP server for your customers. At this point given the MANY hours wasted attempting to get this to work, I have advised my friend to return the Fitbit and purchase a competative product.
Sad, but this experience is yet another reason I stopped using my Fitbit and converted to a Samsung Gear. Thanks for sharing your feedback WRandy. Welcome to the Forums Quilt1. Thank you both for all the steps that you've tried until now. A lot of uses have reported that issue and some of them have had good results by uninstalling and reinstalling the Fitbit App, after turning off the firewall while doing this.
I hope you have option to use your Fitbit with this suggestion although you can also try this as an alternative workaround that could help , please check this post , since you will have the option to keep syncing with your Wireless Dongle using the Fitbit Connect program.
I hope you consider this way to connect, just remember to delete any other file with the name Fitbit on your computer. Just to clarify this is not the solution but it can give you the option to connect using your Windows 10 PC using a Wireless Dongle. I regret that my friend has chosen to return the FitBit and based on this experience, will most likely never be a FitBit user in the future.
Also given she is a senior, she has made a point to tell everyone she can about her experience and why they should stay clear of Fitbit. I spent way too many hours trying to make this work.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the App at least 7 times. I even went in and made changes to the registry to ensure there were no traces of the app on one instance before installing again.
I turned off the Firewall with no success. I even created both incoming and outgoing rules within the Firewall to allow Microsoft and Fitbit access. All with no success and getting stuck with not being able to retrieve the app from the Microsoft Store.
Again, I find it baffling that FitBit would not incorporate the required software for Windows 10 into your software installer package or would not provide a location where the consumer could obtain the necessary app direct from you instead of making the consumer go to Microsoft store KNOWING that many have experienced issues with the store.
Just read through the frustrations and many posts or perform a google search. Also the fact that FitBit has choose to completely ignore a class of consumers, who might not have a smart phone but do have a computer is absurd. I would hope that FitBit marketing and Program teams read these posts and use data like this to enhance the customers experience and improve upon the product.

Make sure that the tracker is within a range of 20 feet from the dongle. Connecting to Fitbit Connect can be done at any time. Do note that the distance between the computer and the Fitbit USB dongle must be at a range of 20 feet.
Once connected, it will sync the data every 15 minutes. You can connect the Fitbit Blaze to the computer with the help of a charging cable. Login to the Fitbit account and select the gear icon on the dashboard. To track the previous synchronization, you can follow the timestamp. Always pair the Fitbit tracker.
